Your new go-to for comforting matcha lattes.

Extra nutty, extra toasty, bold and warming: this is what you want in your matcha latte first thing in the morning. An aroma of fresh croissant and roasted chestnut opens the cup, with a nutty flavour of walnut, chestnut and toasted sesame that pulls through the milk. Bold enough to holds its own against milk with no sweetener needed.

"Momiji" is our first harvest matcha from Yame, Fukuoka, one of Japan's most respected tea regions. It is grown and stone-milled by a family-run, third-generation tea producer, internationally award-winning for quality. It's naturally nutty and toasty, a character shaped by the region's soil and growing conditions rather than processing.

Momiji has a bolder flavour than our Premium Matcha (Uji blend), so you can use slightly less powder per latte and still get a full-bodied cup (2.5-3g.)

Can also be enjoyed as a robust usucha, with deep umami and nuttiness and a light astringent finish.

Freshness

Our matcha and hojicha powders are freshly ground to order by our tea farm partners in Japan.

After grinding, our matcha is sealed in nitrogen-flushed bags to safeguard its aroma, color, and depth of flavor.

At Yamada Chaya it is maintained in cold storage and brought gradually to room temperature before dispatch so it reaches you in peak condition.

Why drink matcha?

  1. Whole-leaf benefit: powdered to preserve every nutrient, not just an infusion
  2. Shade-grown for enhanced umami, chlorophyll, L-theanine, and antioxidants
  3. High in catechins (like EGCG), rutin, vitamin C- key for cell protection and vitality
  4. Delivers focused calm: L-theanine + caffeine offer alert relaxation without the crash
  5. Natural detox support via chlorophyll: helps promote liver and immune function
  6. Moderate caffeine: less than coffee, more than brewed tea

Excellent quality and the description of the taste is spot on. The colour is vibrant, it mixes well and the taste is SO good. I’ve found it difficult to get such good quality Matcha outside of Japan and so happy to have discovered Yamada Chaya!
