Tea ware from Japan and beyond to complete your matcha moments
Oribe Katakuchi Bowl | Hand-Painted Leaf & Berry Design
Handcrafted in Japan, this Oribe katakuchi bowl captures the quiet beauty of wabi-sabi — imperfection, texture, and balance. The deep black exterior contrasts with a soft white interior, where a hand-painted leaf and berry motif unfolds in striking black and berry red. The gentle spout and organic shape lend it an earthy, effortless grace.
A Touch of Oribe History
Oribe ware (Oribe-yaki, 織部焼) first emerged in 16th-century Japan, guided by tea master Furuta Oribe. Known for its expressive glazes, asymmetry, and spontaneity, it celebrates the beauty found in irregularity. Each piece becomes a living dialogue between clay, fire, and hand — never repeated, always unique.
